BACKGROUND:
Zinfandels long history in the US is shrouded in mystery and reads in many parts like a mystery novel. Although European in origin, it has been used and appreciated for over 160 years in winemaking here, making it as close to an American variety as we can get. Genetically much older than newer so-called noble grapes, it has a tremendous ability to span stylistically, from small to big.

STYLE:
A lighter, more fresh style that emulates how Zinfandels used to be made in California, before emphasis was put on extraction. Zinfandel has a tremendous ability to span stylistically and here I’ve made it in a classic California style of the past - a little lighter, and with no oak. 2023 is the best vintage of this wine we’ve made.

VINEYARD:
Family owned and family farmed, the own-rooted Stampede vineyard planted in the late 1920’s in Clements Hills, is a site that consistently delivers world-class Zinfandel.
